Simple Nail Care at Home
Gentle everyday habits to keep your hands and nails looking neat between salon visits.
Neat, well-kept nails make a lovely finishing touch. With a few easy habits, you can keep your hands looking polished between salon visits.
Shape and trim gently
Use a clean, fine nail file and file in one direction rather than sawing back and forth. Keep nails at a length and shape that suit your daily life. Short, softly rounded or square-ish nails are often easiest to look after. Avoid cutting too close to the skin.
Care for your cuticles
Cuticles protect the area around your nails. Instead of cutting them, soften them with a little cuticle oil or a rich hand cream and gently ease them back. Massaging in a small amount of oil each evening is a relaxing habit that keeps the area comfortable.
Moisturise often
Dry hands can make even a fresh manicure look tired. Keep a hand cream within reach and apply it after washing your hands and before bed. In colder or drier weather, a slightly richer cream can feel especially welcome.
Protect your nails
Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning, and use a nail file or tool rather than your fingertips to open things. If you wear polish, add a clear base coat first and a top coat to help it last. Remove polish gently, and give your nails a rest between colors when you can.
Know when to ask for help
If you notice anything unusual about your nails or skin, it is best to ask a qualified professional for advice. For everyday shaping, polish and pampering, your salon team is always happy to help you choose what suits you.
